Dugin Alexander Gelevich (b. 1962) is a prominent Russian philosopher, writer, publisher, public and political figure. the actor of political science. Professor of Moscow State University. Leader of the International Eurasian Movement. Permanent member of the Izborsk Club.

Biography

He was born in Moscow in the family of a general of the customs service. In 1980 he entered the environment of traditionalists - in this circle then consisted of G. Dzhemal, E. Golovin, Y. Mamleev, V. Stepanov, S. Zhigalkin, N. Prokulatova. Worked as a translator (English, French, German) at the Institute of Conjuncture and Demand, the Institute of Trade Information; studied European authors of the Middle Ages and The Renaissance, Hermetic tradition and poetry, modern conservatism and traditionalism.

In the second half of the 80s, he wrote his own philosophical works, participated in patriotic socio-political organizations, in the restoration of monuments, the movement of search engines; creates an intellectual neo-Evrasian circle; works on translations of traditionalist authors (Guénon, Evola).

Since 1988 he has been publishing an almanac on the history of religion "Sweet Angel". In 1989, the journal "Soviet Literature" published program texts: "Continent Russia", "Subconscious of Eurasia", "The End of the Proletarian Era", etc. Participates in international conferences (Paris, GRECE "Idee de l'Empire", Madrid, "La Tradicion"). In 1990 he created the Historical and Religious Association "ARCTOGEA".

In the early 90s, he actively participated in the patriotic movement, including in the work of the newspaper "Day" and in the dramatic events of October 1993 on the side of the defenders of the Supreme Soviet. In 1992 – 2000 he published the magazine "Elements". In 1997, Dugin published the first Russian textbook on geopolitics "Fundamentals of Geopolitics", which has since become a classic, translated into many foreign languages.

In 1998-2003 - Advisor to the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. Author of the weekly program "Geopolitical Review" on Radio Free Russia. In 1998-1999 he lectured on traditionalism as a language within the framework of the New University.

In 2000 he headed the newly created Eurasia Movement. He became the chairman of the "Center for Geopolitical Expertise" (sector of the "Expert Advisory Council on National Security Problems under the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation"). In 2002, the "Eurasia" was transformed into a political party "Eurasia", Dugin - Chairman of its Political Council. Since 2003 - Leader of the International "Eurasian Movement".

In 2004 he defended his doctoral thesis "Transformation of political structures and institutions in the process of modernization of traditional society" in the RSI of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Rostov-on-Don).

In 2005 - Editor-in-Chief of the Orthodox TV channel "Spas"; presenter of the weekly analytical program "Vehi".

Since 2008 - Professor of the Faculty of Sociology of Moscow State University, Head of the Center for Conservative Studies (CCI).Since 2010 - Head of the Department of Sociology of International Relations of the Social Faculty of Moscow State University.

For a number of years he acted as a columnist in the newspapers "Izvestia", "Krasnaya Zvezda", "Literaturnaya Gazeta", "Komsomolskaya Pravda", "Arguments and Facts", etc. actively participated as an expert and public figure on the central TV channels of the Russian Federation (First, NTV, TVC), led a weekly philosophical and journalistic program "Russian Thing" on the radio Russian News Service.
